One Thing Could Break Your Business Overnight (Ask Me How I Know)

Ever build something you’re super proud of…

fully aware it’s on rented property

and then wake up to realize the landlord changed the locks overnight?

You’re out here doing CEO things and the “platform” is like, “Cute. We updated the rules. Good luck.”

That was me a little over a week ago.

OpenAI decided to retire GPT‑4o inside ChatGPT and completely replace it with their newer model, GPT 5.2.

Publicly, it wasn’t some dramatic “this model is trash” moment. It was more like:

  • Almost nobody was selecting GPT‑4o anymore.
  • They believe the new model covers what people liked about GPT‑4o.
  • They wanted to simplify the product.

Cool. Makes sense.

Except… it hijacked a big chunk of my delivery system.

Because I’ve built a lot of the 7 Figure CEO System experience around custom GPTs that run very specific frameworks using the 4o model.

And overnight, ChatGPT’s behavior completely shifted…and I paid for it!

Instead of running the framework and getting people to an answer (which the whole point of using a custom GPT),

the bot started doing that “helpful” thing where it wants to refine, sharpen, explore options, and take us on a scenic tour through 37 follow‑up questions.

Which sounds like no big deal in a press release buried in their “help documents” (which aren’t really helpful, tbh).

That is until you’re client is supposed to complete a CEO Weekly Strategy process in 20 minutes, and instead, an hour and ten minutes later, they couldn’t get past step 4 of 8!!!

U-G-H!!!

And then when I asked her, “Okay, so what are you working on this week?” her answer was:

“I don’t know.”

Friend.

That is the opposite of what the framework is designed to create.

So here’s the point

(and it’s not just an AI thing)

Leveraging third‑party platforms isn’t bad. It’s normal.

Most of us have done it with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, whatever.

These platforms are powerful. They let you move fast without building everything from scratch.

But here’s the tradeoff we have to talk about:

You don’t control the backend.

So you need to stop acting shocked when the rug gets pulled.

Annoyed? Yes.
Frustrated? Absolutely.

But it’s part of the risk you take when your business depends on something you don’t own.

And if you’re going to play on rented land, you need a backup plan.

Your Weekly Challenge (do this by Friday)

Take 15 minutes and do a quick “Platform Risk Audit” on your business.

  1. Where are you depending on a third‑party platform for something mission‑critical?
  • Lead gen
  • Sales
  • Client delivery
  • Community
  • Automations
  • Content distribution
  1. If it disappeared tomorrow, what breaks first?
  • What revenue stream gets hit?
  • What process stops?
  • What would you not be able to deliver?
  1. Build one backup lane.

Example: If your lead gen is social, build your email list in parallel.

So if your emails go to spam, you still have community. If you end up in Facebook jail, you still have your list.

You get the point.

For me?

I patched my GPTs with a set of rules that force the framework (because I’m not letting a model update derail my business!) and shared them with the my world because I knew I wasn’t the only one pulling my hair out! 👇

But I’m also accelerating a bigger move.

I’m shifting my program delivery into Notion because Notion agents let me build the systems alongside the agent.

Not just duplicate what ChatGPT was doing. I’m taking the 7 Figure CEO System experience to a whole new level!

Yes, I know it’s still a “third party platform,” but it’s proven to be a lot more steady than OpenAI and, until I am ready to invest in my own SaaS, it is a pretty awesome option!

Aaaannnnddd, I still have ChatGPT as my back up for this new platform.

Need the “fix” for your GPTs?

Grab my 7 Non‑Negotiable GPT Rules here. Copy/paste them into your GPT instructions so the bot runs the framework the way it’s supposed to.

And reply NOTION if you want to learn more about the platform and see what I’ve got cooking up for my live monthly training in March.

PSA: If you didn’t already know, I hold live monthly trainings every 2nd Thursday at 1pm EST, so if you want to stop building your business on sand… pull up a chair!
